Why did they leave the Castle Fun Park?

For those who lived in Perth in the early 80’s would no doubt remember The Castle Fun Park located in Halls Head in Mandurah on the corner of Old oast road and Leisure way, it was built-in 1979 by George Kaspar (“Call for castle fun park to reopen,” 2011).  Who could forget the Bavarian Castle and miniature village, the swimming pool in the shape of Australia, mini golf, a play ground and a kiosk, a fun place to spend the day with the kids…

So why did they leave? It appears that in early 2000 is when the park shut down, with changing interests within the community and the implementation of the Mandurah bypass bridge, saw the demise of this once loved attraction, now very little remains, the castle is still standing and what is left of the Australia shaped pool is the only reminder of the good times once had by children who are now adults and have long forgotten this little area of make-believe and happiness.

It has seen a bush fire and now vandalism covers what is left of this idyllic little playground, if you look in the reference below there is a link to an online newspaper article calling for the park to reopen.
